Another Barn Block.....

Today I completed one more barn block. Inserted is the March quilt block. I used the same prints as the first barn, just switched it up. All of my barns will have different sky prints. It went quicker the second time around. Still struggling with my seam. 'Seams':)my seam is ok, I think it's my fabric that gets stretched out of shape. I have a lot to learn!!! I noticed after posting the barn yesterday that my HST's are turned the wrong way so the print is going in the wrong direction. I am not sure if I will rip it out yet. I thought I would, but as Ann says, it gives it character. :)

  1. I am in love with these little barns! Have you seen the link on my blog to the left for QUILT BARN PICTURES? My friend and I just love to see the real barns w/the blocks...

This is almost like doing the Dear Janes and yet having the lovely barns in one project! I look forward to seeing more and perhaps one day I can make them.

I'm glad you've joined the Flower Garden Wednesdays~and at the same time as I am! No, I did not use the papers. Don't follow me, I'm not a good example... lol I have done a few w/the papers, but did not have them large enough for what I wanted to do. I took a template and traced it and added seam allowances, turned under, starched and ironed and proceeded from there. I'm a unique bird, don't always make sense in how I do things, but get it done.. :)

  3. Another lovely barn Jan. I am not a machine piecer, however, I have found that if I feed the fabric under the foot in the same way for each seam, the block comes out very nice indeed. So I don't sweat the scant 1/4" unless it's for a swap and then I'll hand piece them LOL.

  5. another pretty barn! I wouldn't notice the HST going the wrong way--still don't so I'd leave it alone. One of the hardest things to remember for me is when you show someone a block unless you have the pattern right there, nobody knows what it "should" look like. Same with quilting. So I try to bite my tongue and not point out all my 'oops's' :)
